About 15 years ago, as a Florida Real Estate Broker, John Purland was hired to locate, purchase, and manage real estate in and around Palm Beach County. The real estate market was booming, and John was very busy building and managing a portfolio of properties. On October 24, 2005, hurricane Wilma damaged most of the properties in that portfolio.
John immediately went into repair mode, talking to contractors, building material suppliers, insurance companies and building departments in an effort to repair the damaged properties.
Time after time contractors would not show up, do shoddy work, use the cheapest materials, and try to charge premium prices!
The reputable suppliers would not sell to the general public. Some insurance companies would try to avoid paying claims, or reduce the claim amount making it impossible for the homeowner to ensure a quality repair. Even when the insurance companies did make the proper payments, contractors would take advantage of the situation by saving every dollar they could on the homeowner’s property.
As frustration mounted, John earned his State Certification Building Contractors license, and his State Certification Roofing Contractors license in the effort to repair the portfolio of properties he was working on. He also earned his Public Adjusters license so he could negotiate with the insurance companies. While working on his own properties, he heard story after story about how the “system” was failing the homeowner. Soon after, John went to work as a Building and Roofing Contractor, and Public Adjuster.
Since then John has been involved in over a 1,000 insurance claims, property renovations, roof replacements, and real estate transactions. He continues to provide value in these areas by providing best options for homeowners.
